High-Quality Molds: The surface finish of the mold directly determines the final product’s surface finish. Class A surface molds are crucial.
Gel Coat Surface Layer: A specialized gel coat resin (chemical-resistant, weather-resistant, food-grade, etc.) is typically applied as the outermost layer. The gel coat thickness, spray uniformity, and degree of cure directly affect surface performance.
Extremely Low Surface Roughness: High-quality smooth surfaces can achieve very low roughness values (low Ra values), feeling smooth to the touch and appearing glossy visually.
High Gloss: The surface can exhibit a mirror-like high gloss effect (depending on mold and gel coat quality).
Dense and Pore-Free: Good molding processes ensure the surface layer resin cures fully, forming a dense, micro-pore-free barrier.
